The Local Council Roads Innovation Group is expanding its reach into Scotland with the addition of three Scottish councils as new members.
Glasgow City Council, Clackmannanshire Council and Ayrshire Roads Alliance have all joined LCRIG.
Susanne Ingham, Executive Officer and Secretariat at Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), said: “It is vitally important that we expand our reach into Scotland and we’re delighted to welcome Glasgow City Council, Clackmannanshire Council and the Ayrshire Roads Alliance as new members.
“Some of the challenges facing Scottish councils will differ to those of local authorities in England, but with challenges come opportunities. At LCRIG we are in a unique position of having the experience and knowledge of a raft of experts across both the highways maintenance and technology space. As councils continue to face funding challenges we will continue to play a key role in helping to facilitate collaboration and innovation. Helping share best practice and knowledge across all of our council members is a key objective for LCRIG and we look forward to helping our new members in Scotland.”
Andrew Mollon, Head of Roads – Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability at Glasgow City Council, said: “Glasgow City Council are proud and honoured to be joining LCRIG and work alongside other UK local highway and road authorities so that we can learn and share efficient and innovative ideas to ensure that we all find new ways to provide a better roads service. We look forward to joining this well-established group to ensure further innovation and technology can be introduced to the roads of Glasgow.
Iain McDonald, Senior Manager Environment at Clackmannanshire Council, remarked: “Clackmannanshire Council is delighted to be members of LCRIG, we see it as fantastic opportunity to collaborate, network and innovate to improve our road network.”
David Manson, Special Project Officer at Ayrshire Roads Alliance, commented: “The Ayrshire Roads Alliance are delighted to join LCRIG and look forward to the sharing of knowledge and experiences of other like mind authorities to assist in improving our road network while taking a significant step forward towards Net Zero.”
